This piece was embroidered by my grandmother ( she says in the early 1950's ). This has been hanging in her home all of her adult life. It's been matted and framed many times and it's a little worn but to me, it is pure gold. Can you believe she gave it to me? This touched my heart deeply.
She also embroidered this table runner. I've had it for a few years but it's been tucked away in a cedar chest....I think I need to have this on display.
Now, I'm starting to notice a trend because I went to my little junk store today. ( It's antiques's etc. but my DH started calling it the junk store so it kind of stuck....as long as I can spend my time and a little money in the junk store I don't care what he calls it...lol. ) Anyway, I went to my junk store and what did I find?
2 butterfly pillowcases that match absolutely NOTHING in my house....but I had to have them. :)
Then I notice another recent purchase.
This sweet pillow hangs on the door that leads out to the garage from my little breakfast room. I think it's darling.
One more gift from Mammaw~ I think she has had these for at least 30 years. Turquoise dinner napkins....
Now, I think I may be in trouble, I'm loving embroidery!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
Hugs~ J.

Jessica, thanks for visiting my blog. Happy Pink Saturday to you. Be sure to e-mail me to let me know if you plan to begin to participate.
Your vintage linens are wonderful. I'm always amazed at the beautiful work people created.
Welcome to the Land Of Blog! Your grandmother gave those to you out of love. I've quilted and embroidered some over the years, and love goes into each stitch, let me tell you. You found some good "finds." That turqoise color is really in vogue right now.

neither of my grand mothers are even remotely creative. They don't do this sort of crafts or any crafts for that matter. I am the only one in the entire family that does needlework of any kind, or any crafts at all! My dad is the creative one, but he would not dream of sewing crafts!
Oh yea...this is a great day already! lol....I forgot to say that I love the items you posted today...but now I am wanting to get my kit out...lol THANKS A LOT! you must think I have all the time in the world- going around inspiring me like that! lol
luv ya lady...have a great day
Jessica,I have so many old linens that were my moms. I have the cutest set of dish towels or tea towels as my mom called them that she embroidered for each day of the week.I have pillow cases and back in her day she would embroidery runners to decorate the top of her dresser or whatever, and she called them dresser scarves. I wish I could come up with a way to display some. I love your treasures!

Hey Jessica!
I'm glad you stopped in for a visit. It's good to meet the old gang from RMS here in blogland...I think most of us have jumped ship and come here! I love the old linens...they remind me so much of my sweet grandmother who used to embroidery dish cloth sets and pillow cases. I've never had the patience for hand sewing. Now I'm off to see the rest of your blog...I can see a peek of a "fresco" picture...don't you LOVE that special effect!
Hi Jessica! Thanks for visiting my studio on my blog today (Diane's Musings).
Yes! I think you have the beginning of a new hobby! Collecting embroidery! Enjoy the hunt!
Best wishes,
Diane
Your grandmother does beautiful work, and what a priceless treasure she gave you. My sister does beautiful needlework also. She's 10 years older than me and embroidered pillowcases and dish towels for my trousseau, too bad no one really does that now. Anyway, she made me a beautiful crewel picture for my wedding of the Salt Lake City Temple that still hands in my front room. These items do become heirlooms! Cindy
My Gma did a lot of embroidery and quilting too. She made each of her
children and grandchildren quilts.
I do some counted cross stitch and did a baby quilt for each of my kids. I will have to look thru more of your blog, I just stumbled on it. :)
Jessica, I popped on the computer for just a minute. I'm starting to feel a little better. I could almost swear I embordiered those pillow cases in the 70's. And my ex-mother in law uses to crochet the edges for me. But, I know they can't be mine. At least I wouldn't think so. But, who knows where that kind of stuff ends up. I wish I would have initaled mine.
Hugs, Terrie
I love embroidered things! I use to do alot of cross stitching years ago and even did some embroidery...I love seeing old samplers...I know the time and effort it took to make them..you have some beautiful treasures from your grandmother! Hope you have had a great weekend!
Oh girrrll! I love embroidery too. Those that your grandma gave to you are so precious...that little one with the chair and fireplace...so cute and all of the others too. Don't worry about the butterfly one that you found, (that you said that matches nothing that you have in your house....You'll find the perfect spot and you'll love it, because that's what keeps it interesting...and it's probably why you were drawn to it. I have found that when you really love something...get it and you will find a place for it! I love all of your treasures and those turquoise napkins are such a beautiful color! Have a great day and I will be back again soon! P.S. I love the music on your blog, i have tried and tried to get music on mine and the webpage playlist.com will not take my password and won't give me another one either. Oh well...
xoxo, Queenie!
Oh, how I love that sampler that your grandmother made in the '50's!! I do a bit of embroidery, mainly cross-stitch, so I know how much time goes into making something like that!
Big TX Hugs,
Stephanie
