A Very Special Pink Saturday...

Happy Pink Saturday! Thank you Beverly for hosting this wonderful event. :) Please visit Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ and see a list of all the PS participants.

This Pink Saturday I wanted to share a REAL treasure with you. My husband's grandparents celebrated their 70th Wedding anniversary last year; isn't that amazing? All of us kids, grandkids and great grandkids went to visit. We had a special service, lunch at their church and spent the night with them. She always makes my husband ( her baby ) a very yummy chocolate pie. Late that night we were sitting at the table enjoying pie and some good conversation when Mammaw said she wanted to show me something. I followed her and there folded on the foot of their bed was this beautiful quilt....

Isn't it gorgeous? It's not ALL Pink but the trim and backing are pink. :)

I learned that Pappaw's sister; Aunt Rea made this quilt 20 years ago as a gift for their 50th wedding anniversary. Mammaw told me she really wanted me to have this quilt. Well, I almost fainted right then and there. I don't think she will ever know how much that meant to me.

NOTE: Mammaw & Pappaw just celebrated their 71st anniversary in June. :) One day I'll tell you the story about her flower sack britches, how they met & fell in love....it's priceless.

Mammaw also gave me her TOP SECRET chocolate pie recipe~ My mother in law, was quite jealous...lol. :)

Please go by Beverly's and visit all the Pink Saturday participants. You will have so much fun and see all kinds of Pink. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs~ J

Ohhhhhh, this is priceless! I love this unique pattern that she did. You, my friend, must be very loved by your mammaw! The chocolate pie recipe also proves how much she cares for you. My in-laws just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year and I can't even imagine being together that long! I tell my husband sometimes that 60 more minutes is too long!! LOL!! He knows that he's stuck with me forever so we joke about the 60 minute thing when we get on each other's nerves! This was a very special pink Friday post!!

What a treasure! I can see why it would mean so much to you and it beautiful.
My Mom was embroidering a quilt for a friend when she died. She had a few squares that weren't finished but we took it to the friend, any way she called me short while after we had taken it to her and said she wanted to see me, when I got there she gave me the quilt squares, she said it was on her heart that she wanted me to have them. Later I found a friend that asked me if she could make them into a quilt for me, it was hard to let them go some how but I now have a lovely quilt made from them.
71 years...wow! That is really so special too.
Have a great day!
