~ Tootsie's Flaunt Your Flowers ~

Welcome to Fertilizer Friday....Flaunt Your Flowers...hosted by the one and only

Queen of Gardening~ TOOTSIE!

This week we are going to the back yard....again.

I was so happy last Sunday morning ( Father's Day ) I walked the fence line flowerbeds like I do every morning and I saw this sunflower almost ready to open. It literally brought tears to my eyes. I planted the sunflower seeds in honor of my Poppaw who just loved them. I planted about 7 seed packets and so far I have 2 sunflowers that popped up.

Here it is in all it's glory~

This picture was taken early Thursday morning just as the sun started filtering in the garden.
I love the morning sun~

Lookie here~ more little flowers coming up from seeds. I have no idea what they are I planted about 20 seed packets around the base of our 3 year old red maple tree. This is my first year to plant seeds so I am super excited. :)

I planted some flowers around the tree last weekend~ My Pop always said it was a good idea to have flowers around trees because when the flowers get droopy you would know your tree needs water, too. We are officially in a drought here and the temperature has reached 104 degrees the last 2 days. I'm really having to sweet talk & water the plants alot.

Now, I must introduce our very own home grown topsy turvy tomato's. The one on the left is just about ready to eat. We're excited. We haven't ever grown a vegetable either. :)
I do believe this is cartwheel worthy....lol.

Well~ that's all I have this week. I can't wait to go by Tootsie's at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ to see what's blooming in your gardens! Thanks Tootsie for hosting this event & thank you so much for coming by.

~Happy Gardening~

Big hugs~ J

girl you are a better gardener than I...I don't do the foods!! I did try...but that didn't work so well...the "people" were sneaking a few bites...and a few more and then there were none!! lol
Everything is looking so pretty ...I agree about the tree....BUT I was told to be careful as we should never add soil too much...it can get to high and smother the roots....not sure I believe that ...I tend NOT to follow any gardening rules...instead I make my own....but I heard it and you reminded me!!!
SO??? hows the kid???? I hope she is having a good summer...Mine finish school today...and I am sad that the genius isn't here to watch them and go junkin with me...and visit....and surprise me by saying she sneaked her mom in a suitcase to visit too!!! lol
anyways...love you all bunches....have a great weekend and thanks for joining!

Love the sunflower J! I wish I had a place for them in my yard, maybe next year! Those seedlings look like zinnias, Mine are up about 10 inches now, they're my favorites! You did good with the tomatos, I need to show those topsie thingys to Butch, we do ours the old fashioned way and so far they are growing well! I can see your heat in those pictures, YUK, stay cool sweetie and have a great weekend! xo

Sunflowers and tomatoes already! I'm so jealous. I have both in my garden too, but up here in zone 2/3, my sunflowers are just a couple inches high, and I am *thrilled* to have a blossom on one tomato plant, hahaha ... it'll come together in August for me. Meanwhile, I can just be envious of you.

Tomatoes already?! Actually I planted a plant in the topsy turvy just about 2 weeks ago. Hope mine look as good as yours. We're having trouble keeping it from wilting. And sunflowers from seed... you definitely have a green thumb!
